Finding "Job 1" V8 SHO

Q.I am trying to find Job 1 (as in the first one to roll of the line) V8 SHO and V6 SHO. Production VIN sequence means that it starts with 100001. That would be the first car of that particular year. So far I have been able to find what I think is "Job 1" 1996 Taurus. It was built in Atlanta and has a vin of 1FALP52U4TA100001 Interestingly this car has no owner history from what I can find. The only thing we do know is that it is the first valid vin from 1996. So who knows the real story on this vin? Now to find Job 1 Taurus we will have to search months latter and sadly go though hundreds of vins. I guess the best place to start is to find one of the earliest vins, that way we have a place to start. We could also search for the last V8 SHO to roll off the line.

A.We've been talking about a similar concept on the V6 list, trying to find the first and last V6 SHOs, first ATXs, etc. All we have so far is an informal comparison of who has the largest sequence number, and it's mostly anecdotal at this point. I found one built sometime after May 1995 with a VIN seq # of 281429, and someone else jumped in with some in the 290s and said they knew of some over 300. I suppose we could do a similar thing for the V8's. Based on informal research through my V8SHO list archives for the past 3.5 years, the earliest '96 VIN sequence number I could find was 1FALP54N8TA242938 posted as a request for a Carfax check by Dave Manke on 11/12/2004. I found TONS in the 250,xxx's and a bunch in the 280's and 290's as well as some in the low 300's. The "1FA" means it's a Ford Passenger car, the "L" means it has 1st gen airbags, and the "P54N" means it's a Taurus SHO V8. The "A" after the year code means it was built in Atlanta. Of course, all SHOs were built in Atlanta (Hapeville), but the 1FALP54 doesn't explicitly denote that.
