Q.Where can i find cheap used auto parts? need a motor and trans for a 'mitsubishi eclipse

A.The junk yard. I don't know what year that eclipse is, but unfortunatly many of them were junk. If you need a new motor and tranny I would consider taking the car to the junk yard instead, it's just gonna need a lot more work. So unless you have a real attachment to this vehicle, you are better off (money wise) letting it go. There are lots of companies that sell cheap used engines and trannys, but they normally don't last very long. You can find them online. Some companies are better, they actually rebuild them. Other companies just clean them up and sell them as is. I have seen engines and transmissions for just a few hundred bucks, but then you have the installation costs (unless you diy) which can cost much more than that. If you aren't doing it yourself, it's better to buy good engines and transmissions so you don't have to pay the labor again. If you have a shop do it, you might want to have them supply the engine or transmission, in which case they will usually add some type of warranty to it. When you supply it yourself they rarely, if ever, warranty anything. I know, just about everyone is on a budget. That's why I say dump the car, they just weren't built great. You can find them all day long in the papers for half of what they should be worth. (Again I don't know what year yours is, but since it needs a new trans and engine I would guess it fits into the junk catagory) Don't worry, I've had one too so I'm not trying to pick on you!
