Best Time Buy Used Car

Q.Is there a best time of year to buy a used car? A time when the forecourts are virtually dead and the dealers really want to shift stock?

A.Well the "traders" here will correct me if I'm wrong but I was led to believe that dealers were really keen to sell new cars by the end of the year to meet sales targets. This would mean a surplus of used cars (trade ins) just after Christmas. Given that most folks are broke after Christmas, I would have thought that the forecourts would be full of used cars but with no customers. Perhaps that's the best time? I'd imagine Christmas time - bad weather and people with other things to worry about will keep them away from the showroom. F-i-L has found car auctions quiet before Xmas.
