Q.While where on a binge of information sharing - stupid drivers, intelligent discussions on revenue raising and speed, I would be interested to hear on any suggests/stories on how you can talk used car dealers down, or private sellers on the price of the car, what tricks you use etc. I am sure there is a wealth of experience here in that department.

A.1. It's not a popular model 2. It's a manual, worth less. 3. The steering feels a bit loose mate 4. Is that an oil leak? 5. I saw a better one yesterday but I hated the colour. 6. Think it's been in a prang, handles kinda weird. 7. Not sure about the tyres, rego is coming due as well 8. Isn't this the model that got recalled a few times? Then you walk out with a pocket full of cash and wait.... Tell them you really like the car but can only afford to spend an amount about 2-3 grand under what they want. If they're keen to make a sale, they'll "see what they can do for you". I'm looking at a car now, and am going to try that out, but it's kinda true, I can't afford what they want but I'm going to say I've got less than I really have to spend
