Blue Book Used Car Price

Q.In 2000 I bought a used 1999 Ford Mustang from a Honda Dealer in my area. I had originaly gone there to buy an Accord, but my wife saw the Mustang and fell in love with it. The dealer said it was a GT and sold it to us as a GT. Recently, I found out that it is NOT a GT, it is just a plain old V6. I am wondering now if the dealership CHARGED me for a GT. I still owe on this car, and I'd like to find out if I have been ripped off before I finish paying off the vehicle. Does anyone know how I would go about this? I need to find out what the value of a '99 Ford Mustang V6 was back in 2000 versus the value of a '99 Ford Mustang GT. I've searched around on the web and haven't found anything usefull. Back in 2000 when I bought the car, I didn't know anything about Mustang's, besides that it felt nice when I pushed on the gas pedal!

A.What does your contract say you bought? Why did you think it was a GT back then, and not now? Did someone put fake GT logos on it? Check with your insurance agent or local credit union to see if they have older blue-books. If not, your library might be of some help. If not, check with Kelly, the blue book people -- they might be able to find a solution. Last resort is E-bay or Hemmings Motor News to find older blue books. Even if you were misled, you have two issues. First, how do you prove that you were told it was a GT? Second, it has been 4 years since you bought the car. You may have blown a statute of limitations on the issue. You will have to check with an attorney in your state to see if you can still persue this. Do you have anything in writing from the dealer that says the car is a Mustang GT? If not, forget it. When buying a car (especially a used car) you get "charged" whatever you willing to pay. Any price they quote as the initial asking price is usually about $2,000 more than they will settle for. You probably need to discuss this in an auto newsgroup..
