Blue Book Used Car PricesQ.I am thinking of buying an Audi A6, 2.8 Quattro. I just have a few questions: Is it "worth" it? I mean, does it have any common problems? If it is a quattro, does it "roar?" (Quattro is like a 4x4) What I like about it is the shape and the looks caught my eye. IT IS BEAUTIFUL, especially the silver one. Also, the dealer seems to be going out of his way for me... he is giving me great offers (and i'm a bit suspicious), like a free freeway plan, so you don't have to pay for service, just except for sparkplugs, oil, tyres, e.t.c. --- and a cellphone! (mobile phone). Plus a 5% discount, and Im paying monthly! Is this normal or what!?!?!? I used to have a Camry and it is a lot different. Audi seems more friendlier than a Toyota! I bought Toyota cars for 9 years not (I used) , and decided to change to an Audi, (Euro) for a change. What I noticed in Toyotas in 2 years time they start "crumbling". You know... Like the battery is dead, all fuses blown, radiator down, e.t.c. So I usually have to spend R2000 everytime it goes in for a service! (About US$285.00). In earlier stages, I only had to spend about $100.00. Now when I want to sale the car for 2nd hand, it is only worth US$8571!!! I mean it is still in good condition, although I have drove for about 200 000 km. Anyway, please tell me the following Is it worth the price? Does it brake down / need repair / problems? Does it have good value, especially for 2nd hand? Is the dealer cheating me off? Or does he want to get fired? Or is this the standard? Do I really get a Cellular phone? A.Only you can answer, "Is it worth it?" And as for common problems, Consumer Reports Magazine (here in the "States") gives the A6 good marks for reliability. I'm not certain what you mean by "roar." In general the 2.8 liter engine provides modest (but adequate performance). The 2.7 biturbo engine puts some fire under the hood. And Quattro is usually considered all-wheel-drive whereas a 4x4 suggests a part-time off road vehicle, which the A6 isn't. Most folks feel that the Torsen based Quattro system improves handling, especially when emerging from curves whereas applying the throttle will not introduce excessive under steer. Also wet/snow driving is much improved, providing you have the proper tires (or is that tyres?). I also really like the A6 look, although plenty of others seem not to care for it. I'm surprised by your experience with Toyota reliability. Are you driving on rough roads? Or pounding your car(s)? My guess is that an Audi will certainly not be more reliable than a Toyota, but heck, I don't want to drive a Toyota and it seems that neither do you. yes, yes, and ... well ... all cars have issues of one sort or another. In the States the used values for Audi's have improved. It really depends on the market in your area. Check the local papers and see what A6's are going for in your area or check your equivalent of the Kelley Blue Book used car prices. Well, if your dealer says so, I guess. Try to spend some (more?) time behind the wheel of an A6 and I would suggest that you check out the A6 forum over at http://www.audiworld.org .
