Bluebook Used Car Prices

Q.I have a question about kelly blue book and edmunds used car prices. We went to the dealership and talk about a certain car on the lot having previously looked up (and printed out) Edmunds report on this particular make/model/year. When the bargaining time came, the salesmen produced a book (it was yellow with N.A.D.A. or something like that on the cover) and quoted prices from it which were about 5k over what Edmunds gave us (for both trade-in and market values). When I mentioned my source was Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book, they got a Kelly blue book (that's what the cover said; and it was in fact blue), but the prices were still higher. What kind of books are those and why their prices are so much different? I suppose they could've make numbers up, since I only managed a very brief look into the books... but I don't believe they would do that.

A.In my area, (midwest), the NADA is the bible and I have never dealt with anyone who used anything else, be it dealer, bank, credit union. My public library subscribes and has copies available to look at. I understand that there are different regional editions printed monthly. You either: a. looked up the wrong model (e.g. an LE instead of a GT). b. Forgot to add for all the optional equipment on the car. c. Your dealer was looking up the wrong car. I've found that the magic books the dealers have are pretty similar to KBB and edmunds.
