Buy A New Or Used CarQ.Has anyone purchased the used car warranty that they sell on the used car lots for used vehicles? Do it work and have there been any good/bad experiences with them? Is there anything I should look out for in regard to this? A.Sometimes, the uneducated and ignorant responses of others make my comment on a matter mandatory. This is one of those times. First off, if you buy a used car from a hole-in-the-wall used car dealer where English is generally not the language spoken, NO AMOUNT of warranty is going to help you! Or, if the guy is trying to sell you a used car warranty on a car that older than YOU, then something is fishy! RUN AWAY! There are a couple of things that you should do when buying a used car and/or a used car warranty. 1. ONLY BUY FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER! Stick with a large, new car dealership that has used cars on their lot as well. Also, buy from a dealer that has been around for years! A new car dealership is established and has to warranty every car it sells, new or used. And, they have a reputation to worry about.... where AHMED'S USED CARS does not. 2. When you are disussing the USED CAR WARRANTY, go over the warranty in great detail! Find out exactly what it covers and what it does not cover. Generally speaking, the warranty covers the powertrain and the engine from defect. Not normal wear and tear. So, if they are trying to sell you a warranty on a 10 year old car with 200,000 kms on it, everything would be considered "normal wear and tear". A reputable dealership will not sell you a used car warranty on a car older than 8 years or with more than 160,000 kms on it. And, if they did, it would probably cost more than the car! 3. Go over everything. If you know exactly what it covers and does not cover, then you won't have a bad experience. If you are smart and buy a car from a reputable dealership and do you homework, you won't be one of these idiots on here saying, "BAD EXPERIENCE" or other ridiculous comments. A used Car Warranty is there to protect you, and will do just that if you are smart about it.
