Buy My Used CarQ.Why is it just about every other consumer product comes down in price, but cars keep getting more expensive? example: vcrs, used to be over 300 for a 2 head mono, now they are 100 for a 4 head stereo computers used to be 5000 to 10000, now you could get a P4 for under 1000 stereos, microwaves, dvd players dvd recorders used to be over 1000, now are about 400 All of these things have more technology(just like cars) now then years ago, yet cars get more expensive. Still, I think we are lucky here (Canada and U.S.) because I know in Europe and other parts of the world, cars are extremely expensive as well as gas. I'm just curious is all....some sort of government conspiracy? A.Just buy used. Much cheaper... Think about it, after you drive your brand new car off the lot it's value drops by at least 1/4 and that's only for a couple miles. My dad got a car which had 50 miles or so on it from a dealer. The person who bought it changed their mind or something and took it back, and the dealer sold it to him for significantly less than the new price, but besides looking at the odometer you would neer know it had been off the lot. In any case, I stick to classics. My 67 and 68 Galaxies can only appreciate in value (assuming the condition doesn't deteriorate). Toss in the bonus of being able to fix most anything that breaks on them myself and no car payments and it's great. Not to mention that it only costs a fraction of a new car's price to get a classic. I like to consider the cars investments. I don't know though... Maybe it's the new technology in the new cars that drives the prices up? Perhaps requirements to meeet both MPG and pollution standards? Maybe for laughs next time you go to a dealership you can ask why cars keep getting more expensive. lol In all likelihood though it's because people will pay higher prices. People want new cars, as most people think used cars are trouble and junk. People are paranoid for no good reason about how many miles are on the car, and most people don't understand how to evaluate a used car. If people will pay a higher price, chances are someone will charge the higher price. And if one person can... Well, you know where it goes from there. I guess I'll end my nonsensical ramblings now.
