Buy Used Cars For SaleQ.Do you know if there are any good websites to look at for buying a used car? I tried Oregonian, but it is full of dealer ads, and I do not trust them that much. Or any other suggestions? A.Private parties, in many cases, are no better than some of the used car dealers out there. You have to be a wise, informed shopper, and have a good mechanic or knowledgeable friend to check out your choices if you can't. The Oregonion has far more ads from private parties than dealers. They are usually smaller, and the dealers are required to include the fact that they are a dealer in their ad. There are frequently posts for used cars for sale in this group. There was an outfit called oregonusedcars.com (I think) that spammed many of us nearly into oblivion recently. I have had no dealings with them, and if they don't handle their dealings with cars better than they do their EMAIL I'm not sure I would want to. If you approach your quest to buy a used car as if everyone was out to bend you over, and try to prove they are not, you will at least be prepared if taken advantage of. You might even be pleasantly surprised. I sold a car recently, was very honest about it's condition telling everything that I knew that was wrong. I needed to sell the car bad enough that I allowed to buyer to beat me down lower that I wanted to go. The person came back about one month later and gave me some more money as he was impressed that I had told him the truth and not tried to cover up any defects. The irony of it hit me later. Just imagine, what are the chances of an honest seller and buyer with visible ethics being connected with the same vehicle sale?
