Buying Cheap Used Cars

Q.buy expensive engine oil almost HK$400 4-L (Mobil 1/shell untraron) & change every 5000km or buy cheap cheap engine oil around HK$100 4-L & change every 2500km which one is better?

A.How long do you plan to keep your car? Do you plan to keep it for 15 years? Do you like to race your car? Using synthetic oil like Mobil 1 is good if you want the car to run at the maximum all the time and won't need changing until 10,000km. Changing earlier won't hurt but won't do much to help since Mobil 1 is a very good oil to use. People (and car dealers) use normal mineral oil because they do not imagine most car will last 15 years. Most would be sold off and the condition of the engine doesn't matter much by 10-15 years time. This is why many Japanese used cars at the auction sometimes don't have their oil change because Japanese know their car will only be used for 7 years and it will be sold. On a side note, using Mobil 1 will make your car use less petrol because it is thinner but I have only used the 5W-40 grade.
