Q.On an 8 grand car (used) what kind of discount should I expect for cash? And if possible whats the usual haggle room?

A.Ask the dealership, it ranges from ? to ?0 at the most, depending on how cheap they are selling the car. If you walk away someone else will buy it so it's no great loss to them. They will probably inform the police anyway with that amount of cash due to people money laundering. I know they do around ?0k or for lower amounts if the person looks or sounds a bit odd. It depends on the dealership. They will see it as you saying you can't afford the car and sell you a finance package instead. They often work out at a higher APR than a bank would offer, so you would be in a better position to bargain over APR. They make the money from selling finance and worthless warranties, so wouldn't be bothered at making a few hundred less on the car. I asked Lookers for ?00 off a ?0,500 Vectra and wanted a ?k part exchange and they said no. That car is still gathering dust on their forecourt and now it's only ?k nearly a year later. They phoned and asked if I was interested so I said I would be at ?500 to annoy them.
