Q.In the market for a used car, primarily a Fiat Bravo, anyone know of any good/cheap used car dealers near to Wolverhampton? Budget is max ?500, and ideally I'm after a low-ish mileage (circa 70k) 1.8 HLX model.

A.For something that cheap, bext bet is to look on Autotrader. 57000 miles, Metallic Blue/ Silver, FSH, e/w, PAS, c/l, e/s/r, immobilizer, Fiat alloys, 2 owners from new, current 5 years, excellent condition. ?,995 Within 12 miles of Wolverhampton. You presumably know of the technique of going around to the garages that sell "middle priced" cars (4k -12k ish) and seeing what they have at the back without for sale signs on? These are often trade-ins that otherwise are destined for the car auction. They won't put them on the forecourt because they would rather sell one of the cars already there. Main dealers are no go, they aren't interested. It has to be the sort run by the owner. Haggle - really haggle. Given the choice of selling for cash to you, or losing the time and money dragging it to auction with the risk of getting peanuts for it, plus they aren't selling anything at the forecourt because the stand-in salesman is a tosser but at least doesn't steal anything - you may get it for considerably less than the auction price. No competition you see.. Whenever I go to an auction there is always some pratt that fancies what I do and is willing to pay ridiculous money for it..
