Q.I need a new bike hauler. I've been looking at a number of vans. Lawler in Dallas seems to have great deals on V10 Fords. With $150 1-way air fare, I'm considering flying to Dallas & driving back. So, any tips on buying used cars on Ebay? I'm looking at vans with less than 30k miles. Does it make sense to contract to a 3rd party inspection service? Can the deal be canceled if you arrive & find the van not in the condition advertised? What kind of astute questions should I ask about the car ahead of time? In technical questions, I've only heard good things about the Ford V10 motor. What about transmissions? In recent years, are they all E40D? McGarry, what transmission did you blow in Moab? I'm told there were a couple of years to avoid (2000/2001?). Anyone in DFW area want to put up with me for a night? Whatever became of Schooley & the other TNGBs (since Baxter left)?
A.flood damage is about the only thing i'd worry about for buying a car "site unseen" the dang electrics will flake out after a while... car fax will only tell a car history if the insurance company is one of the big ones and the claim was filed & paid.... as for ebay? guess they have some warrantee they are touting but haven't had to test it out yet.
