Find Used Car Dealerships

Q.is there any recommendable used car dealer in Urbana-Champaign Area?

A.For my money, there's no such thing as a recommendable used car dealer. I'm sure there are hundreds of "happy" used-car-dealer stories, but the odds are against ya. Except for HPR, which is a whole other story in how you can be ripped off, used car dealers for the most part acquire their stock at used car wholesale auctions (which are open to dealers only). These cars are sent to the auction by new car dealerships who have taken them in trade, and the reason they're sent to the auction (usually) is because there's something serious enough wrong with them that the dealership doesn't want to risk selling them on their own used car lot and then having to deal with the hassles they'll get when the thing dies. Are there exceptions to this? Of course. There are dealers who wholesale anything over __ years old, regardless of its condition. There are dealers who wholesale any line of car they don't have any experience selling. And there are dealers who get overstocked with used cars and send some to auction to free up some of the money they have invested in them. On the other hand, there are insurance companies that have called a car "totaled" and then cleaned it up and sent it to auction to get a few more bucks out of the deal. Despite all these exceptions, the odds against a car on a used car lot being in good, drive-it-away-and-not-have-to-worry-about-it-for-another-10,000-miles condition are way against you. The one exception I'm aware of is HPR which buys only late-model fleet vehicles (some of the used rental-fleet cars you'll find there may be only 6 months old and have less than 20k miles on them) but they're notorious for the various different ways they have of ripping off their customers. If I were going for a good used car, I'd go to the new car dealership that sold the kind of car I was looking for and check out their used car lot.
