Find Used Car

Q.I recently got a Ilnois license I want some advise on how to buy a used car.

A.Try to buy the lowest mileage, highest quality one you can possibly afford. Consumer reports is a good place to find reliability data on late models. Find one you like from a state where they don't salt the roads, either from a private party or from a dealer who will give you a decent warranty. Have a mechanic you trust inspect it. Examine the history of it. If the owner didn't keep the service records, don't buy it. Check on www.kellybluebook.com to get an idea of a fair price. Check consumer reports to get an idea of reliability. Make a reaonable offer. If they try to jack you around at that point, go somewhere else.
