Florida Used Cars

A.I'm sure it crumpled. Gee, looks like you were really lucky StudeBob. When I traded in my 55 Champ Sedan on a new VW in 63 it also exhibited similar rust problems plus I had just put my foot thru the floor by the driver's floor air vent! It had a good reason though for this rot, it had spent all it's life in and around Salty Chicago. (Got $50 credit for the Champ. towards the VW. Dad thought that was OK since I was also burning 3/4 of a quart of oil every 120 miles We see the same type of rust on coastal vehicles here in Florida, especially in South Florida for some reason. Usually under the side trim on the older style chrome type trim mounted thru body holes with pins/clips. I have learned that if you see this you better take a very very close look at the vehicle before purchase. I have passed on many Florida cars (Studebakers and others) for that reason. I have also discovered that many "Florida" used cars started life in Michigan, New Jersey, New York or Ohio and retired to Florida along with their owners. About ten years ago, I stopped looking at Florida used cars unless I know the owner and the car's history. I have had good luck with cars from the greater Atlanta area and the entire southwest. I have seen good cars from the central valley of California, but I just haven't had the good fortune to own one yet (I have made offers on many Studebakers there).
