How To Buy And Sell Used Cars

Q.Has anyone had experience of the latest Thinkpads? Thinking R series but any other experiences welcome. Questions are basically can we get OS/2, ECS installed without major problems and are we able to get 100% functionality in OS/2 ie. can we get USB, and all the other "New" stuff working easily. Does anyone have an idea of the quality of the various series? I know more money means more quality but are the R series components OK

A.The R30 was 4 months old according to the manf. date. Pawn shop clerk just happened to remember it coming in so he pulled it out and fired it up - on battery. It was configured with SpeedStep enabled, so when it booted to W98 - eventually - it ran like molasses in January since battery power was below 5%. After I raved on about how SLOW it was and how it must have something wrong with it he consulted his book, winced, and said that seeing as how it did seem to be not right he'd let it go for what he had in it (sure he would!) and popped out a price that included a USB mouse and floppy drive. I handed him a check before he could back out. No, I didn't feel sorry for him - I also buy and sell used cars frequently. I like the TP display. The viewing angles are really good, speed is adequate (of course a 900mhz Celeron helps) but it does come up a bit short in bright light, such as out-of-doors where I have seen better. I would also like to have a longer battery life but I understand the speed/brightness/weight vs power situation. The 'mouse button' also takes getting used to, but overall I'm satisfied. I have to boot to Win to use the modem but everything else is running under OS/2.
