How to sell used cars in Melbourne, Australia

Q.In the US, there is the Blue Book that lists the auto prices for (almost) all years & models. Is there such a publication in Australia (Melbourne)? We would like to sell a 1989 Volvo 740 8+8 GLE, but have no idea about its market price. Any info on pricing and how to sell a used car (by owner) will be greatly appreciated.

A.Why don;t you pick up the Age classifieds in the The Age newspaper on Saturday or Wednesday to get an idea. Also walk around car yards. i beleive there is such a book here but have no idea what it is called. Have you tried a newsagent? I'd suggest calling an insurance agent or a bank or credit unoin and asking them what source they consult to figure the loan values. Or, look up The Age from the library and see how much people sell their 1989 Volvo 740. Or, RACV will evalue your car when you ask for the insurance. However, it may not be close to the market value. The newspaper could be the best way to go.
