looking to buy a used car

Q.I am looking to buy a used car. I am looking for a beater so looks arent important but the ability to run for at least 6 months on maintainence only is. I also need it to be an automatic and I would like a Ford anything. I only have $250.

A.Car shopping is a highly local venture, unless you have a friend willing to drive you across the state for a test drive. Suggest you explore local classified ads, and the "lots" that spring up at carpool lots and big box stores. You can't afford a car if all you have it $250. You just can't. Even a $1,500-3000 car is going to need hundreds of dollars in maintenance to keep it going. I suggest you work on the supply side for your cash. Your best hope is networking with friends and finding someone that wants to get rid of a junker without a hassle.
