Old Used Cars For Sale

Q.My personal feeling is that cars were meant to be driven. If I did pick up a Nomad, it almost certainly wouldn't be in cherry shape, and probably wouldn't have matching numbers. As I mentioned before, I prefer "better than stock" modifications to "even the original flaws" restoration. I do have some sense of awe for a rare car (say an original Boss 'nine?), though I feel that if I am taking the structure of a car which I am going to rebuild, I am going to do it _my_ way. I don't believe this violates the sanctity of a "rare" car because if most of it is repop sheetmetal and non-stock parts to begin with, then it's not a rare or collectible car. And I do believe in driving the cars that I put thousands of dollars and immeasurable amounts of blood, sweat, and tears into; that's the way I enjoy them. If you get your enjoyment from "rubbing it with a diaper" and only driving it in parades, that's fine by me. We are doing the same things for different reasons, it doesn't make either of us "right" or "wrong". And I insure my cars well so that if Ms. Frickert does decide to crumple all of my nice bodywork I can afford to put it right again. If you are willing to pay the premiums, most insurance companies will insure your car for whatever value you deem fit. I really can't understand why if Nomads are rather rare, I've seen alot of them for sale, in decent shape, for ~$3000..?

A.Popularity and the survival of certain cars does vary considerably by region. I've been told, for example, that convertibles don't sell as well in extreme Northern states (as new cars) because of the winters, so fewer are available (as local cars) when they reach collectible age. Also, warm, dry climates (such as CA & the Southwest in general) tend to be havens for old cars since rusting due to exposure to moisture and road (or ocean) salt is less of a problem. (Of course, those of you out there who have lived in these regions can concur or refute these assertions.) Another point on local availability. Some cars are extremely popular in some areas. Here in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill NC area for example, the place is crawling with early Mustangs. It seems like I see at least one or two wherever I go. Also, I can pick up the Saturday Raleigh paper and almost always find 4-6 '65-'68 Mustangs for sale somewhere in the Triangle (3 city) area. Considering the whole area has
