Q.I live in Denver, CO, and I did some quick pricing on the local used cars (denverpost.com has a classified link that extends beyond just Denver) - I don't think I found anything close to what you were talking about, and things that were close were pricey. I'm keep my eyes peeled in the weeks/months to come, though. As for A2, A3, A4 - any good tips on where I can read up more about what models are which? I never did figure that out.

A.Depends on what you like as in body style. A2, A3, A4. The best price IMO for a relatively newer body style and drive would be the `94 and `95 Jetta 2.0l. They have a forged crank and heavier valve springs. They are still relatively easy to fix and pretty cheap using a distributor and rotor. OBD-I. I have seen them used as cheap as $1200 to $2400 and as expensive as $9000. Anyway, if you can get one that has relatively low miles and the interior and body is in good shape it would be worth it if you like that style body. The A2 is lighter but you won't find too many out there that are nice since the nice ones are all taken. A4, I can't say much for the A4 but it has it's moments.
