How to buy new cars with lowest price possible (to share with you)

Q.Why buy a new car, you don't need a new car. Buy a used car, let someone else take the hit. You buy a new car drive it off the lot and you just lost several thousand dollars. Buy a good used car. comments?

A.You might not NEED a new car, but if you can afford it, you might WANT a new car. A thing with being frugal is to prioritize. Some people put a car high on the list, because they enjoy driving. Besides, used isn't always cheaper. Aside from the possibility of buying someone's problem, the price isn't always lower. I know someone who bought a brand new car (with a few incentives). He also looked at a 2 year old version of the car (domestic so it's supposed to depreciate like crazy). After financing the amount he would pay would pretty much be the same less two years of ownership, and he wouldn't know what happened in the first 2 years. Yes he could buy an even more used car so that he don't need to finance (new one was 0%), but then maintenance becomes an issue, and some people don't want to deal with maintenance (yes, even old Japanese cars break down). He could save up to buy a car, but that doesn't help if you don't have any money right now and need to buy a car. In this case it almost made financial sense to purchase new. Often you're better off buying a new car. The higher quality vehicles (Toyota and Honda) fetch very high used prices from people that would otherwise pay more that necessary for a new one. This drives up the used prices. OTOH, these makes are heavily discounted when new, except for a couple of models (Pilot, Odyssey), so a new one is often not more expensive than a used one. Plus you get the full warranty, not the remainder of a warranty. You don't have to worry if the previous owner abused it, was in an accident with it, etc. I.e., it's easy to buy a Civic, Corolla, Accord, or Camry for well under the invoice price when new. With relatively new used cars, the people selling a car after only a couple of years are usually the type of person who paid too much in the first place, and these people are selling them to people who think that getting $500 over invoice on a new car is a good deal! On the last two vehicles I purchased (both Toyotas), I looked into recent vintage versus new. For a one year old used car I could not buy it for a lower price than a new one, either from a dealer or from an individual; both knew that they could get a naïve buyer to pay more than they would sell a new vehicle for. At two years old I could have saved a little money, about $1000-1500. But this would give me one year of warranty versus three years on a new vehicle, plus all the other uncertainties. Not worth it. If it had been a $4000-5000 savings then I might have considered it.
