Price Point Used Cars

Q.I used to hear that the stuff in Armor-All protectant, although acting as a UV shield, actually served to shorted the live of the vinyl uphollstery to which it was applied, as it acted as a solvent. Is this so? Or is it a rumor borne of the suposedly protective yet clearly defective 'clear coat" paint jobs of the early eighties? Do you want to save the maximum amount of money on gas? Do you want to be the absolute safest if you run into a wall? Do you want to turn women's heads? Do you want friends to decide to walk rather than accept a ride home in your rear seat? I need to know your needs beyond a simple price point.

A.When I was looking at used cars a year ago, I settled on metro/firefly/sprint/forsa/swift or 323/Escort/Tracer as the only two cars in that class that would fit me. My price point put me at eight to 11 years old (I cheated and bought a 7 year old). In 88 to 92 Fireflies, the red ones almost all had paint problems. And half of them were red. White was OK, but always included silly accent paint jobs, and would be a dirt magnet. The price was wrong on the yellow one, and the paint was perfect on all the blue ones. I bought a blue one.
