Q.I have had the fortune/misfortune of picking up a 1977 1/2 924 with a pulled and disassembled engine. I'm looking for input as to what direction I should go on rebuilding this. I was thinking about using the euro spec pistons to get the HP up, a shop suggested maybe putting a 944 engine in instead. Any other onions that people have done? I should say that I don't want to go the Chevy power route. Also, any suggestions for a good parts source for the rebuild parts? I am on a budget cheaper would better as long as the quality is still up there.

A.Unless your a good wrench I would forget converting to the 944 motor. To many things that are different. Go on line and find the Used Auto Parts Locator. That will search many yards for the same motor. That will be your cheapest way. Plus you will have some extra parts to play with. If you buy a motor make the deal for more than a motor have them throw something else in for your car. Unless you can rebuild the motor yourself? that would be the cheapest. Need parts for 1980,924
