A.Well, that's one possibility. But in Los Angeles, used auto parts are in such high demand that a thriving market has developed in them. One means of vending these parts is by door-to- door sales; the small businessmen who offer used auto parts for sale in this manner transport their wares in a piece of carpet or a throw rug, which they wrap around the parts, unrolling it and spreading it out to display their goods. This bundle of parts is called the partroll, probably by analogy with bedroll, and those who carry them about in their business are referred to as partrolmen.
