Used Auto Parts Orlando

Q.Can anyone suggest a junkyard in the chicago area. Orlando seemed like it had dozens when I was there. Here, I can't find any. Does anyone know of one.

A.I see that you have a Pick-N-Pull. I used one in Houston and loved it. They clear off a huge, flat lot, gravel it, and arrange similar cars together in neat rows, up on four, standing rims. It is so nice to avoid having some idiot yanking and cutting things to get off a part and having to pay him through higher prices charged. At Pick-N-Pull, they even rent wheelbarrows to carry heavy parts around or even special tools. It was funny to watch the various approaches to fetching parts. Some had a 5-gallon bucket full of wrenches, something that they could carry. A few brought a stacked Kennedy box packed with every possible tool and wrestled this monster around through a tenth of a mile of pea greavel. Me, I had my "satelite" box (small, metal box) with only the tools that I expected to use, a few cleaning rags, penetrating oil, an empty bucket for parts, and my good old, rubber-backed floor mat that I use to lay on. It was neat to watch everyone eyeing everyone else's approach. On one trip, I found a '74 Mercury Capri 2800 just like one that I had rebuilt YEARS before and never finished. I had lost some special, metric bolts and stuff, and had forgotten how a lot of things mounted. I went down the street, bought a disposable camera, and used it up photographing the engine (untouched) before I liberated a double hand full of assorted bolts and stuff. Since these were not really considered valuable, I got the lot for something like $4, and got the photos that I needed! By the way, if anyone is interested, I still have the Capri and STILL never finished it. I spent $250 just to have it balanced. The engine is completly fresh with TRW forged pistons, moly rings, Isky cam, Hooker headers, my own head work, etc. The car has adjustable camber plates, nylon suspension isolators, ET mags, Dobi fender flares, front spoiler (never mounted), rear spoiler (never mounted), and even a rare air-conditioner setup (which may be toast, since my big bulldog got his chain all tangled up in it and ripped the evaporator up). Anyway, I'll take just the $250 that I spent on the balance job for it. A lot of paint has left the body and the interior has taken a big hit for sitting idle for 10 years.
