Used Car Auction Prices

Q.What body style is the car? 4door? 2door sedan? 2 door hardtop? Station wagon? Convertible? What shape is it in? body damage, rust, missing parts etc.? There are some publications that are like magazines that give values of automobiles. You can probably find these at a local magazine stand, but in reality what is it worth to you? I review their on line auction results of what they actually sold at each auction. I haven't seen the pricing you are referring to in their auction results.

A.Those auto auctions are where the unknowing go to find the car of their dreams and come away with a smile on their face after being shorn. Rip-offers sell at auctions, the unknowing buy at auctions. And before you tell me that I'm full of wind, let me tell you that I used to work for several of those "collector" auto auction companies. A lot of the cars "sold" at those auctions are not really sold at all. And generally I'm not talking about Studebakers. I'm talking about the real high-dollar cars they advertize as attention-getters. Heck, they even pay owners to run cars thru with the knowledge that it's not for sale. It's just to get suckers to come to the sale and get caught up in the enthusiasim and buy some lesser car there. Usually the "Oh my god, I've not seen one of those in years" types get suckered into buying something for way more money than they would have had to give if they'd just researched a bit. OK, so now they've got all these "sucker-sale" prices on file and the light bulb comes on:...."Hey! we can compile a book of prices to help legitimize the inflated prices suckers pay at our sales. " You see what I'm saying here??? I've been on the inside. I know what goes on. You think these autcion companies hold auctions out a desire to provide a public service??? I don't think so! And of course, if they can help to prop up prices then that means that their percentage of each sale is even nicer......for them.
